The route
There are three medal stage routes to choose from, to challenge all abilities. The routes take you through some of the most beautiful and historical countryside in Scotland:
- Bronze — With sensational views taking in the hills and the moors and well deserved refreshment stops on the way, this road route promises to be an excellent introduction to cycling in the highlands and an amazing experience for everyone in the family — 64Km (39 miles) via Glen Lyon
- Silver — If you fancy pushing yourself a bit harder then this is the one for you, with both on and off-road terrains and a demanding 19 extra kilometres than Bronze! — 83KM (52 miles) via the south side of Loch Rannoch and Glen Lyon
- Gold — Featuring both on and off-road terrains, plus circuitS round two entire Lochs, this rugged route really is for the determined and the dedicated ... are you tough enough? — 132.5Km (82 miles)
Riders will set off from the start at Kenmore (07.00 for Gold/Silver and 10.00 for Bronze) and head North towards the famous Schiehallion Munro and then west and down to Loch Rannoch with stunning views out towards the famous Rannoch Moor and beyond.
Gold teams will circumnavigate Loch Rannoch before turning south at Carie (refreshment stop) to the famous Glen of the Lyon via an exciting off-road section and over an ancient drovers route. The route will then continue from Innerwick (our only support team check point where hot food, tea, coffee, soup, hot chocolate, cakes and fruit will be served) and head due west into the heart of Glen Lyon, round a spectacular and remote Loch Lyon before switching south over the final hill into Glen Lochay and onto the finish at Killin.
The Silver Route follows the Gold route to Kinlochrannoch but stays south of Loch Rannoch and heads directly to Carie. At the head of Glen Lyon the Silver route stays on the road and omits Loch Lyon heading up and over to Glen Lochay and home. Perfect for those keen to do one off-road section but unsure of committing to the vigorous 22km off-road circumnavigation of Loch Lyon.
The Bronze route goes from Kenmore along the full length of the stunning Glen Lyon, then south through Glen Lochay and on to the finish at Killin — a challenging yet achievable option for those new to cycling in the highlands.

Lots of support!
All challengers will be greeted at the finish by their support teams, event marshals and organisers with a sumptuous feast, special event massage, refreshments, entertainment, music, bands and fireworks.
For those with young kids, they will be able to join you for the last 10km or 2km leg to the finish. All those wishing to join participants must register with the event organisers in advance. Kids aged between 12 and 16 will be collected by the event organisers from the Innerwick water stop in time for them to join the participants at Glen Lochay. Parents will need to take account of an average 3 hour time lag between the participants leaving Innerwick and reaching Glen Lochay. Kids aged between 8 and 12 can be dropped off by their parents at a pre-designated spot in Glen Lochay. It is vital for vehicular traffic to stay off the event route, please ensure you speak to the event organisers to get directions.
The Artemis Highland 100 has been designed for the entire family to take part. Entertainment will include a Scottish pipe bank, bouncy castles, pipers, Ceilidh Band and a spectacular fireworks display to round off the event.
